This Rare PlayStation Controller Sold For More Than RM152,000!

The controller is from a never-released console jointly developed by Sony and Nintendo.

Before the release of the beloved first-generation PlayStation console in 1994, Sony had collaborated with Nintendo to create a hybrid console.

This console was designed to play both Nintendo’s Super NES cartridges and Sony’s new CD-based Super Disc format, and it was developed in 1988.

Both companies worked together and created two hundred prototypes, but ultimately never saw the release. Only one prototype is known to exist today and it was sold at an auction for USD360,000 (~RM1.56 million) in 2020.

Years later, a piece of video game history is on sale again, but now it’s just the controller. The unique controller from the Sony-Nintendo hybrid console fetched USD 35,000 (~RM 152,000) at an auction.
