Following the announcement of the new iMac equipped with the M4 chip, Apple has also unveiled a redesigned Mac mini. This latest version is notably smaller than its predecessor and comes with the option of M4 or M4 Pro chips.
The latest Mac mini boasts an “ultracompact design,” echoing the Mac Studio’s aesthetic but with a significantly smaller footprint, measuring only 12.7 cm (5 inches) on each side, compared to its predecessor, which has a size of 19.7 cm (7.75 inches) on each side.
It’s slightly taller than the 2023 Mac mini at 5cm, yet remains lightweight at 670 grams for the M4 model and 730 grams for the M4 Pro variant.
For Input/Output, it features two USB-C ports and a headphone jack on the front.
The power button is located at the bottom, near the rear side.
The rear is equipped with three Thunderbolt ports (Thunderbolt 4 for the M4 model and Thunderbolt 5 for the M4 Pro), one HDMI port, one Gigabit Ethernet port (with a 10Gb upgrade option), and the power input. It also includes Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 for wireless connectivity.
The new Mac mini is available with M4 chip and the more powerful M4 Pro.
The M4 Pro is available in two configurations: the base model with a 12-core CPU and 16-core GPU, and the top-tier model with a 14-core CPU and 20-core GPU. The standard M4 chip comes with 10 CPU cores and 10 GPU cores.
This Mac mini can be configured with up to 64GB of unified memory and up to 8TB of storage on the high-end M4 Pro model. It comes with macOS Sequoia and includes support for Apple Intelligence.
