Apple Is Working With Sony To Bring PSVR 2 Controller Support To Vision Pro

Apple's mixed-reality headset utilises hand and eye-tracking technology and is only compatible with standard gaming controllers for gaming.

Apple is reportedly collaborating with Sony to integrate PlayStation VR 2 (PSVR 2) controllers into the Vision Pro platform soon.

Mark Gurman of Bloomberg has indicated that Apple and Sony had intended to announce controller support weeks ago, but the announcement has been delayed.

In this partnership, Apple would start selling Sony’s controllers, which are not yet available for individual purchase.

Sony has been working on this support for months, and Apple has inquired with third-party developers about their interest in utilising Sony’s VR controllers.

Gurman also notes that Apple aims to use the controllers beyond gaming; they will be capable of navigating visionOS and providing more precise control in applications such as Final Cut Pro and Adobe Photoshop.

Currently, standard Bluetooth controllers can be paired to navigate visionOS, allowing users to select items by tapping buttons and scroll using the analogue sticks.

These controllers also support gaming, but their use is mostly confined to iPad and iPhone games that have controller support.
