When Valve released Steam Deck in February 2022, the handheld gaming PC runs on Valve’s in-house operating system known as “SteamOS.”
Now, the company is collaborating with third-party manufacturers to bring gaming handhelds with SteamOS support to the market.
The first handheld gaming PC to feature SteamOS is the Lenovo Legion Go S. This 8-inch device has a 16:10 aspect ratio and supports resolutions up to 1920×1200 with a 120Hz variable refresh rate.

The Legion Go S includes a 55Wh battery, two USB 4 ports, and a microSD slot. Weighing 730g, the device also offers Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.3 support
The Legion Go S is available in two configurations: one with the AMD Ryzen Z2 Go processor and another with the Z1 Extreme processor. The base model includes 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM, upgradeable to 32GB.
The Ryzen Z2 Go is a 4-core/8-thread CPU coupled with a 12 CU RDNA 2 GPU, 10MB of cache, and a 15–30 watt cTDP. This handheld processor was announced at CES 2025 recently.
The Ryzen Z1 Extreme is a 8-core/16-thread CPU with Radeon 780M, 24MB of cache, and a 9-30W cTDP.

Other than SteamOS, the Legion Go S is also available with Windows 11 if you prefer the traditional Windows experience.
However, a quick check on Lenovo Malaysia’s site reveals that there’s only one model available.

It seems Malaysia is only getting the base model with the Z2 Go processor with Windows 11, and it’s priced at RM3,299. Perhaps the SteamOS isn’t quite ready to make its debut on Legion Go S.
