Apple is allegedly working on future Apple Watch models that might come with built-in cameras. The idea is to make the watch a more advanced AI-powered gadget.
According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, adding cameras would let the smartwatch capture images and use AI to provide context-aware info. This fits into Apple’s bigger plan to put Visual Intelligence tech into more devices beyond iPhones.
Right now, Apple leans on third-party AI models like ChatGPT and Google’s Gemini for this, but they’re aiming to switch to their own in-house solutions down the line.
Gurman also mentioned that Apple is playing around with different camera setups for the standard and Ultra Apple Watches. For the regular version, the camera would be tucked into the display, kind of like how iPhones do it. As for the Ultra, they’re thinking of putting the camera on the side, near the digital crown and button.
If everything stays on track, these AI-driven Apple Watches might launch by 2027. That means we’ve got a bit of a wait ahead, but if this rumour pans out, it seems Apple is cooking up some seriously bold plans for the future.
