Huawei just dropped a seriously impressive new phone in China, and it’s packing some camera tech we haven’t seen before.
The Huawei Pura 80 Ultra‘s main sensor is a 1-inch 50MP shooter with a variable aperture that goes from f/1.6 to f/4. It’s paired with a 40MP ultra-wide lens, a 1.5MP spectrum sensor, and a dual periscope telephoto setup that combines a 50MP and 12.5MP lens.

But that’s not all—the 1-inch main sensor uses an RYYB design and Huawei says the Pura 80 Ultra’s main camera delivers 15x greater dynamic range than its predecessor, the Pura 70 Ultra.
There’s also a dual periscope telephoto setup that combines a 50MP and 12.5MP lens, with moving mechanism that switches between the two lenses, giving you 3.7x and 9.4x optical zoom with sensor-shift optical image stabilisation. That explains why it has such a humongous camera bump.
On the front, there’s a 6.8-inch quad-curved LTPO OLED display with 1.5K resolution, a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, and a variable refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz.

As usual, Huawei didn’t share any details about the chip inside, but it’s reportedly using Kirin 9020. This chip is paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
Powering the whole thing is a 5,700mAh battery that supports 100W wired fast charging and 80W wireless fast charging.
Other features include an IP68/69 rating for water and dust resistance, NFC, satellite connectivity, and Kulun glass for extra durability. It runs HarmonyOS NEXT right out of the box.
The Pura 80 Ultra comes in two colours—Gold and Black—with the 16GB + 512GB model starting at CNY9,999 (~RM5,870).

Right now, the Pura 80 Ultra is exclusive to China, but a global launch could happen—just like previous Pura models.
