Huawei has just dropped its latest Pura 80 smartphone series in Malaysia, but only the Pro and Ultra models are making their way here.
Both phones come with a stunning 6.8-inch 120Hz LTPO OLED display, pushing a sharp 2848×1276 resolution and an eye-searing 3,000 nits peak brightness. The Pro model also gets extra protection with Huawei’s 2nd-gen Kunlun Glass, which the company claims is 20 times tougher than regular glass.
Under the hood, the Pura 80 series runs on Huawei’s in-house Kirin 9020 chipset. The Pro version packs 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, while the Ultra steps it up with 16GB of RAM.
When it comes to cameras, both the Pro and Ultra share the same main, ultra-wide, and selfie shooters. The star of the show is the 50MP main camera with a variable aperture (f/1.6 to f/4.0) and a large 1-inch sensor.
Huawei says this setup delivers a dynamic range of 16EV—15 times better than most smartphones and close to what you’d get from professional cinema cameras. The ultra-wide is no slouch either, with a 40MP f/2.2 lens, while selfies are handled by a 13MP front camera.
Where the two models differ is in the telephoto department. The Pro gets a solid 48MP f/2.1 telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom and macro capabilities. But the Ultra takes things to another level with an industry-first dual-lens telephoto system. It combines a 50MP sensor with two lenses—one for 3.7x optical zoom and another for an impressive 9.4x zoom.
Battery life is covered by a 5,170mAh cell, supporting 100W wired charging and 80W wireless charging. The phones run on EMUI 15.0, based on HarmonyOS.
The Pura 80 Pro is available in Glazed Red, Glazed White, or Glazed Black, while the Ultra is available in Prestige Gold or Golden Black.
Pricing and Availability
Pricing starts at RM4,599 for the Pura 80 Pro (12GB + 512GB) and goes up to RM6,599 for the Ultra (16GB + 512GB). Pre-orders are now open, with freebies worth up to RM1,428, including the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 4 and a year of Huawei Care+.
