In addition to unveiling the iPhone 16 series, Apple has also introduced a new watch featuring a significant redesign.
Apple Watch Series 10
The new Watch Series 10 features a thinner overall chassis, measuring 9.7mm, making it about 10% thinner and lighter than the previous generation.
Besides that, the OLED display has also been enlarged and Apple increased the refresh rate from once a minute to once a second, enabling the Always On Display to show a ticking second hand.
For AOD users, the display is now up to 40% brighter when viewed at an angle, making it easier to glance at information. The larger display accommodates more text and improves typing on the watch.
Thanks to the new design, Apple repositioned the onboard speakers, allowing users to play audio directly from the watch, including music and podcasts, for the first time.
The battery lasts for 18 hours on a single charge, and Apple has sped up the charging process—reaching 80% in just 30 minutes, down from 45 minutes. The watch also supports MagSafe and Qi 2 charging.
Powered by Apple’s latest S10 chip, the Watch Series 10 includes a 4-core neural engine, though Apple hasn’t revealed more about the onboard processors yet. It will come with watchOS 11, which introduces several new apps focused on fitness and health.
The Watch Series 10 is the first in Apple’s lineup to offer Sleep Apnea detection, monitoring breathing patterns during sleep. However, this feature may not be immediately available in Malaysia, as it awaits approval from the US FDA.
The aluminium version comes in Rose Gold, Silver, and a new Jet Black option, marking the first polished aluminium finish for an Apple Watch.
Apple is also replacing stainless steel with Titanium, which is 20% lighter. The titanium version will be available in three colours: Natural, Gold, and Slate Gray.
Apple Watch Ultra 2
The Watch Ultra 2 is now available in a new colour, Satin Black. This matte finish is the result of a custom process designed to enhance the exterior’s resistance to scratches.
Complementing the new aesthetic, Apple has also introduced a redesigned Titanium Milanese Loop. Other than that, the Watch Ultra 2 receives no upgrades.
Pricing and Availability
The Apple Watch Series 10 will be available starting 20 September, with the GPS-only version priced at RM1,799 and the LTE model at RM2,449. The premium Titanium model will retail at RM3,299.
