It’s been some time since Apple introduced significant updates to the standard AirPods, but this year, the company implemented enhancements that bring them more in line with the AirPods Pro.
The new AirPods 4 now come in two variants – standard AirPods 4 and AirPods 4 Active Noise Cancellation (ANC).
The AirPods 4 feature an upgraded acoustic system, which Apple claims delivers improved audio quality and a more comfortable fit, thanks to the redesigned hard shell tip.
The ANC now includes additional features like Transparency Mode and Adaptive Audio. Transparency Mode enhances external sounds, allowing you to hear your surroundings more clearly, while Adaptive Audio automatically adjusts the settings based on your environment.
For example, if the system detects you’re having a conversation, it activates Conversation Adaptiveness and lowers the music volume.
The USB-C charging case has been redesigned to be the lightest and most portable yet, according to Apple. The case supports MagSafe and wireless charging and includes a built-in speaker to help locate the case easily.
In terms of battery life, the AirPods can last up to 30 hours with the charging case and up to five hours on a single charge, though this drops to four hours with ANC enabled.
Pricing and Availability
The AirPods 4 starts from RM599 for the regular version and costs RM829 for the ANC variant. However, the date of availability has not been revealed yet for Malaysia.
