The Poco F8 Series Lands In Malaysia With Flagship Power And Bose-Tuned Audio

From now until 18 December, there's a big discount of up to RM400 off for the phones.

Xiaomi’s sub-brand, Poco, has just released its latest contenders in the budget flagship category: the Poco F8 series. This new duo, consisting of the F8 Pro and the top-dog F8 Ultra, is sticking to the classic Poco playbook of cramming in flagship-level specs without the flagship price tag. As a nice little audio cherry on top, the entire series comes with its sound fine-tuned by Bose.

Let’s start with the top model, the Poco F8 Ultra. This thing is properly kitted out, running on Qualcomm’s newest powerhouse, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip, which is helped along by a dedicated VisionBoost D8 chipset. To make sure the phone doesn’t overheat, they’ve tucked in a colossal 6,700 mm² vapour chamber for cooling. Up front, you’re greeted by a massive 6.9-inch LTPS AMOLED display with a sharp 1.5K resolution. It’s seriously bright, hitting a peak of 3,500 nits, and can smoothly adapt its refresh rate up to 120Hz. Also, it uses a nifty ultrasonic fingerprint scanner right under the screen.

Around the back, the camera setup is rather competent. The main event is a 50MP Light Fusion 950 sensor with OIS, which is quite a large sensor for gathering light. It’s joined by a 50MP periscope telephoto camera that offers 5x optical zoom and another 50MP ultrawide shooter. For your selfies and video calls, a 32MP camera sits in the display. In a rather unusual move, Poco has even included a rear-mounted woofer that works with the dual speakers to create a proper 2.1 audio setup, all tuned by Bose.

Powering the whole affair is a hefty 6,500mAh battery that supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. It runs on the new Android 16-based HyperOS 3, which brings a host of AI features and Google Gemini integration. Poco promises four years of major Android updates and six years of security patches. Finishing things off, it has an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance, a metal frame, eSIM support, and comes in Denim Blue (which is not actually Denim, just plasticky texture) and Black.

Now, for those after a slightly more accessible option, there’s the Poco F8 Pro. It’s no slouch either, powered by the previous generation Snapdragon 8 Elite chip and cooled by Poco’s own 3D triple-layer IceLoop system. Its 6.59-inch LTPS AMOLED display has a 120Hz refresh rate and a FHD+ resolution, and it also sports a metal frame paired with a matte-finish glass fibre back.

Its camera system is a slight step down but still very capable, featuring a 50MP Light Fusion 800 main sensor with OIS, a 50MP telephoto with 2.5x optical zoom, and an 8MP ultrawide. The selfie camera is a 20MP sensor. It packs a 6,210mAh battery with 100W fast charging, and still manages to include an IP68 rating, the Bose-tuned audio, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and eSIM support. It runs the same HyperOS 3 software with the same promise of four years of major updates and six years of security patches.
