Xiaomi Confirms Launch Date And Design For Xiaomi 17 Ultra

It will be released in China on Christmas Day.

Xiaomi’s finally dropped the details we’ve been waiting for. The curtain lifts on the Xiaomi 17 Ultra in China on Christmas Day, the 25 December, as confirmed in a Weibo post.

As for the look, they’re keeping things classic with three colours. Alongside the usual White and Black colours, there’s a new Starry Green option. The teasers show this green model gets a bit of extra flair, with mineral particles embedded in the rear glass to give it a metallic sheen. They’ve also confirmed the signature Leica triple-camera array on the back.

A few other design notes have been shared: it’ll sport a flat display, a nicely segmented volume rocker, and a rather svelte profile at just 8.29mm thick.

Under the bonnet, the speculations point firmly to the new Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip doing the heavy lifting. The camera system is shaping up to be a proper leap, too, with rumours of a 1-inch type main sensor, a formidable 200MP periscope telephoto lens, and the latest tuned Leica optics.

And for those of us not in China? Well, if last year’s Xiaomi 15 Ultra is anything to go by, a global launch for the 17 Ultra is very likely on the cards in the next few months.
