Lenovo’s Rollable Laptop Concepts Are One Of The Coolest Tech At CES 2026

The Legion Pro Rollable transforms into an ultrawide display, whereas the ThinkPad Rollable XD expands into a tall format for increased vertical space.

Most laptop screens are getting a bit predictable these days. Don’t get me wrong, having an OLED panel with a high refresh rate and high brightness is amazing, but it is hardly groundbreaking anymore.

Lenovo decided to shake things up at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2026 by showing off two laptops with screens that actually stretch out. Rollable displays are still a bit of a unicorn in the tech world, so seeing the Legion Pro Rollable and the ThinkPad Rollable XD was quite a treat.

Lenovo Legion Pro Rollable

The Legion Pro Rollable is the one for the gamers, featuring a 240Hz OLED panel that expands from both sides. It starts at a respectable 16 inches in Focus Mode, but if you need more screen space, it slides out to 21.5 inches in Tactical Mode, or a big 24 inches in Arena Mode. It is essentially like having an external ultrawide monitor tucked away inside your chassis. To keep everything moving smoothly, Lenovo used a dual-motor, tension-based system so the screen extends evenly rather than lopsidedly. Currently, the rollable display is tested for 25,000 cycles to ensure maximum reliability.

Under the hood, this thing is a packing some serious hardware. It is rocking an Nvidia GeForce RTX 5090 GPU and a top-tier Intel Core Ultra processor, clearly aiming for those who need serious power for triple As gaming. We do not have the full lowdown on the memory, storage, or battery life just yet, and there is no word on a price tag either. Lenovo is treating it more like a proof of concept for now, so there is no guarantee we will see it on shop shelves any time soon.

Lenovo ThinkPad Rollable XD

Then there is the ThinkPad Rollable XD, which follows on from the ideas we saw in last year’s ThinkBook Plus Gen 6. This one is a bit more portable, shifting from a 13.3-inch display to a 16-inch one with just a quick swipe of your finger. It is a clever solution for the professionals who needs that extra bit of screen space without lugging around an external display.

One of the more interesting touches is the back of the lid, where a transparent Gorilla Glass Victus 2 cover lets you see a strip of the OLED panel even when the laptop is closed. Lenovo is calling this a world-facing display, designed to be context-aware whether you are working at a desk or heading into a meeting.

While we know it will be running an Intel Core Ultra chip, the rest of the internal specs are still a bit of a mystery for now and we don’t know if Lenovo plans turn this into an actual product that you can buy.
