AMD quietly launched its latest laptop GPU, the Radeon RX 7800M, without any official blog posts or any kind of introduction, despite it being one of AMD’s most powerful laptop GPUs to date.
The GPU features a Navi 32 GPU and 12 GB of 18 Gbps VRAM, presumably on a 192-bit bus, yielding a total memory bandwidth of 432 GB/s.
It includes 48 MB of Infinity Cache, 60 Compute Units (CUs), 90 Render Output Units (ROPs), a TDP of up to 180 Watts, and a ‘game frequency’ of 2.145 GHz. It also supports popular rendering formats like H264, H265, and AV1.
So far, the OneXGPU 2 is the only announced device using the RX 7800M. In terms of performance, it outperforms the GeForce RTX 4070 laptop GPU according to OneXPlayer’s benchmarks.
The AMD Radeon RX 7800M has the potential to be a strong competitor in the laptop GPUs market . Yet, AMD GPUs remain scarce, with the majority of OEMs favouring Nvidia GeForce RTX.
