The majority of SD cards available are encased in plastic and are prone to breaking. Lexar has introduced innovative SD cards constructed from stainless steel, which are touted to be significantly more durable than any other options currently on the market, and the first of its kind in the world.
The Lexar Armor Gold SD UHS-II and Silver Pro SD UHS-II cards, constructed with 316 stainless steel. These robust cards boast IP68 waterproofing, dustproofing, and bend resistance due to their steel casing, according to PetaPixel.
The V60 cards offer comparable performance, with both Gold and Silver versions providing read speeds of up to 280 MB/s. Write speeds vary between the two, with the Silver Pro reaching 160 MB/s and the Gold achieving up to 205 MB/s.
The Lexar Armor Gold and Silver Pro SD cards will be available in capacities of 128GB, 256GB, 512GB, and 1TB, though pricing and availability details have yet to be released.
