Telegram’s latest Android update is a bit of a total overhaul. They’ve rolled out a fresh interface that makes getting around and searching much faster. The biggest change you’ll spot is the new bottom bar, which lets you hop between your chats, settings, and profile easily.
Beyond the looks, they’ve actually rebuilt the underlying code from scratch to make the app feel snappier. If you’re worried about your battery, you can dive into the power saving menu in your settings to tweak things for better performance.
Over on the Apple side, things are looking a bit different too. iPhone and iPad users get a revamped media viewer, better preview panels for stickers and emojis, and some updated menus when you’re clicking around profiles or messages. For the iPad crowd specifically, there’s a handy new keyboard shortcut – Command plus Enter – to send off your messages.
Managing groups has also become a bit more automated. If you’re a group owner and you decide to leave, Telegram will now automatically hand over the keys to one of your admins after a week. You’ll see a confirmation window when you exit so you can pick a successor yourself, but you can always just transfer ownership manually whenever you like without having to leave the chat at all.
For those into the more gamified side of the app, there’s a new crafting system for collectible gifts. You can now combine your existing gifts to try and create rarer versions, ranging from uncommon all the way up to legendary, complete with special artwork and effects. The more gifts you throw into the mix, the better your chances of success, and you can still trade these items over on the gift marketplace.
Bot developers haven’t been left out either. They now have the option to add some personality to their buttons with emojis and colours, which should make bot interfaces a lot easier to navigate.
To see all these changes for yourself, just make sure you’ve grabbed the latest version of the app from Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
