Sony Unveils WF-1000XM6 Flagship Wireless Earbuds; Priced At RM1,599

These earbuds bring stronger ANC, extra microphones on the earbuds, and a better audio processing chip for improved sound quality.

Sony has finally dropped its latest flagship wireless earbuds, and yes, they are sticking with that classic WiFi password aesthetic for the name: the WF-1000XM6. While the name hasn’t changed much, the look is totally fresh.

Under the hood, they have packed in 8.4mm dynamic drivers that have been fine-tuned by Sony’s own acoustic engineers alongside pros from their music studios. You have all the usual suspects for codecs, including AAC, SBC, LC3, and LDAC, plus their AI-driven DSEE Extreme tech to help polish up those crusty, compressed files.

The real heavy lifting is being done by an updated Integrated Processor V2. It has jumped from the 24-bit depth we saw in the XM5 to 32-bit audio processing, which Sony reckons will give you a noticeable boost in clarity and dynamic range. If you are the type who loves a good fiddle with the settings, there is a new 10-band EQ in the Sound Connect app. Connectivity is solid too, featuring Bluetooth 5.3 with multipoint pairing, Auracast, and support for 360 Reality Audio with head tracking.

Noise cancelling gets a proper leg up this time around thanks to the QN3e chip, borrowed from the over-ear version of the XM6. Sony is claiming it is 25% more effective at blocking out the world than the previous model, particularly when it comes to those annoying mid-to-high frequency noises. It also uses an adaptive optimiser that tweaks the ANC in real-time based on your environment and how the buds are sitting in your ears, aided by two extra outward-facing mics on each side.

They have also worked on making the ambient mode feel a bit more natural so you don’t feel like you are listening through a tin can. Connection stability should be better as well, as the internal antennas are 1.5 times larger than before. As for the battery, you are looking at 8 hours from the buds and another two full charges in the case, totalling 24 hours. They still support wireless charging and come with an IPX4 rating for a bit of water resistance.

If you are looking to buy one, they are launching in Silver and Black. They are priced at RM1,599 over on the Sony Malaysia site. You can pre-order them now and delivery starts at 3 March 2026.
