Alongside the new Mate 80 Pro, Huawei just dropped their latest flagship wireless earbuds, the FreeBuds Pro 5.
These buds have dual-unit, dual-channel active noise cancellation system known as the “Dual-Engine AI Noise Cancellation “. By using acoustic units to pump out reverse sound waves, they manage to dial down the background hum of the world quite effectively.
If you are a fan of heavy low-end, you will appreciate the ultra-linear dual-magnetic circuit bass unit. It reaches all the way down to 10Hz, which basically means the bass feels punchy and impactful rather than just muddy. On the flip side, the ultra-thin micro-planar tweeter handles the high frequencies up to 48kHz, keeping everything sounding crisp and detailed.
Audiophiles will be pleased to see the inclusion of the L2HC4.0 audio codec. This allows for 2.3Mbps lossless high-res transmission, hitting that sweet spot of 48kHz/24-bit quality, but only if you are using compatible Huawei devices. If not, standard Bluetooth codecs are still available.
Huawei has also included an alert mode so you don’t accidentally wander into traffic, plus an adaptive volume feature that tweaks your levels automatically depending on how loud your surroundings are. Even if you are in a strong wind situation a chaotic noisy environment, the call quality is designed to stay clear for everyone involved.
As for the stamina, each earbud packs a 60mAh battery, with a 537mAh reserve in the charging case. Huawei reckons you will get about nine hours of playback with noise cancellation switched off, or six hours if you need the silence. All in all, with the case included, you are looking at a total battery life of around 38 hours before you need to find a plug.
