WhatsApp Adds Noise Cancellation For Clearer Calls On Android Devices

It's only available for some beta users of the app for now.

WhatsApp is finally tackling that annoying background noise during calls with a new noise cancellation feature.

According to WABetaInfo, it was recently spotted tucked away in the latest Android beta, which means the developers are busy polishing it up behind the scenes.

The idea is pretty straightforward: the app will automatically filter out those irritating sounds that usually drown you out. Whether you are stuck in heavy traffic, pushing through a busy crowd, or trying to chat on a sick day, your voice should come through much more clearly on the other end.

You will be able to toggle the setting on or off whenever you like. According to the early looks, the switch lives right in the call menu, though it sounds like it will be switched on by default to save you the hassle.

At the moment, it is only rolling out to a handful of beta testers. Assuming there are no major bugs or hiccups, we should expect to see it landing on every Android devices in the next few weeks or months.
