There are plenty of Android-powered gaming handhelds on the market, and it looks like OnePlus might be throwing its hat into the handheld gaming market.
A recent leak from Digital Chat Station on Weibo has surfaced, showing off what is claimed to be a OnePlus-branded device.
The leaked image shows off some purple textured grips and shoulder triggers, but there are a few unusual design choices. Specifically, it seems to have a dual-camera setup on the back with an LED flash, which is a bit of a weird one for a gaming machine. It also sports a USB Type-C port at the bottom and volume keys on the side.
While it clearly shares some DNA with the usual OnePlus smartphone aesthetic, the device looks significantly thicker in the photos. Another leaker on Weibo suggests we should expect an 8-inch display and a high-end MediaTek Dimensity chip under the hood. Given the brand already focuses heavily on mobile gaming performance with its phones, this feels like a natural, if ambitious, next step.
That being said, we should probably keep our expectations in check for now. These are just rumours until OnePlus decides to make things official, so it is best to take everything with a healthy dose of salt. Still, the prospect of a dedicated OnePlus console is definitely something to keep an eye on.
