SNK is teaming up with Plaion Replai to bring back the legendary Neo Geo AES (Advanced Entertainment System) console, and called it “Neo Geo AES+.”

This isn’t just another cheap emulator box either. To keep things authentic, they have re-engineered the legacy ASIC chips rather than relying on software emulation, meaning the gameplay should feel exactly as it did in the nineties. They have even kept the original AV output for the purists who still have a chunky CRT TV in the corner, though they have also added HDMI support for a crisp 1080p signal on modern screens.
Under the hood, or rather on the bottom of the unit, you will find DIP switches that let you fiddle with language settings, display modes, and even overclocking. They have also addressed some old-school frustrations by adding a permanent way to save high scores to a memory card and introducing a low-power mode to keep things efficient.

If you are looking to get your hands on one, pre-orders are already live and it starts at USD249.99 (~RM988).
They are launching ten modernised game cartridges at USD89.99 (~RM355) each, including heavy hitters like The King of Fighters 2002 and Metal Slug, so you can start building a proper library straight away or you can still use the original Neo Geo AES game cartridges.
