Malaysian telcos have been stuck in a bit of a “GB for RM” race lately, where everyone is just trying to outdo each other on how many gigabytes they can cram into a single ringgit. It is a bit of a race to the bottom, honestly.
But Tune Talk is looking to break that cycle by launching its very own e-commerce platform, dubbed the Tune Talk Shop. By teaming up with Presto, they have managed to stock the digital shelves with over 20,000 items, ranging from the latest tech gadgets to beauty products and home essentials, according to their press release.

What makes this interesting isn’t just the sheer volume of stuff you can buy, but how it actually works within their existing setup. Instead of being a clunky redirect to an external website or a separate app, the shop is a native part of the Tune Talk app. This means subscribers can browse and buy everything from a new pair of headphones to skincare without ever having to leave the app environment.

They have also kept things local by supporting Touch ‘n Go eWallet payments and allowing users to redeem their loyalty points for purchases, which is a nice touch for anyone sitting on a mountain of unused rewards.
This move signals a bit of a pivot for the brand as it tries to evolve into what they are calling a “Techo.” It is essentially a hybrid of a mobile operator and a lifestyle platform, designed to keep users engaged for more than just checking their data balance. By embedding shopping directly into the ecosystem, Tune Talk is betting that convenience and extra value will win out over simple price wars.
If you want to see if it lives up to the hype, the updated app is already live on the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.
