Canon Malaysia has just released some seriously impressive gear for the content creator crowd. We are looking at the new EOS R6 V full-frame mirrorless camera alongside the RF20-50mm f/4L IS USM PZ. This lens is a bit of a milestone for the brand, marking their first full-frame L-series glass to feature a built-in power zoom.
The headlining feature for the EOS R6 V is its ability to handle 7K Open Gate RAW and MP4 recording using the entire sensor area. This is a game-changer for anyone who needs to deliver content for both wide screens and vertical platforms like TikTok or IG Reels, as it gives you plenty of room to reframe without losing detail. To keep things running smoothly, Canon has tucked a cooling fan inside the body. This helps the camera record 7K footage for roughly three times longer than the older EOS R6 Mark III, so overheating shouldn’t be nearly as much of a headache.
It is clear that Canon has been paying attention to how people actually use their cameras these days. The EOS R6 V is built specifically with vertical content in mind, featuring a dedicated vertical tripod socket and an interface that rotates automatically when you flip the camera. The body itself is quite streamlined to make it easy to fit into cages or rigs, and there are even front-facing controls and remote support via the app or a wireless controller for those of us who often have to shoot solo.

When you pair the camera with that new 20-50mm lens, you get a setup that is remarkably light and easy to handle, whether you are shooting handheld or using a gimbal. The stabilisation is particularly clever here, as the in-body, digital, and optical systems all work in tandem with subject tracking to keep your shots looking professional and steady. Because the lens uses internal zoom mechanics, its balance does not shift when you change focal lengths, meaning you won’t have to keep rebalancing your gimbal every time you want a tighter shot.
While the video specs are the big talk, the camera is no slouch when it comes to photography. It packs a 32.5MP sensor that delivers great dynamic range and plenty of detail. It can also fire off shots at a rapid 40 frames per second with some very smart autofocus and pre-shooting features. Between the lens and the body, you are looking at up to 7.5 stops of stabilisation, which is fantastic for low-light photography or just staying sharp without a tripod.
On the more technical side of things, the system is loaded with professional filmmaking tools. You have access to Canon Log 2 and 3, custom LUTs, waveform monitoring, and 4-channel audio. There is also a proper HDMI Type-A output and various creative modes like colour filters and slow-motion options. It really positions itself as a versatile, all-in-one solution that won’t break the bank compared to dedicated cinema rigs.
At the time of writing this article, Canon Malaysia did not include the local pricing with their press release, but it’s coming next month and you can check their website for more details.
