Ubisoft Co-Founder Dies In A Plane Crash In France

His plane went down in La Baule, a coastal resort town in France.

Claude Guillemot, one of the brilliant minds who co-founded Ubisoft back in 1986 alongside his brothers, has passed away.

The gaming giant shared the heartbreaking news, expressing their deep sadness over his sudden death following a tragic accident, according to Reuters.

While his brother Yves became the well-known, public face of Ubisoft as CEO, Claude was the essential operational backbone working behind the scenes. He played a massive role in transforming the company from a humble mail-order software business into the global powerhouse it is today, later transitioning to run the family’s hardware branch, Guillemot Corporation.

The tragedy occurred when a twin-engine Cessna 421 crashed in La Baule, a coastal resort town in France that was preparing to host an air show. Claude, who was 69, was one of two people on board the aircraft. Authorities confirmed that neither passenger survived the crash.
