When Apple launched the MacBook Neo back in March 2026, the real shocker was just how affordable it was. Sadly, that honeymoon period has been short-lived.
Global supply issues for RAM and storage components have sent costs soaring, and as much as we hate to see it, those rising expenses are finally being passed down to the consumer.
Tim Cook recently addressed the situation, noting that price increases have unfortunately become unavoidable. He explained that while the company has been doing its best to mitigate the massive cost hikes and shield customers from the impact for as long as possible, the current situation has simply become unsustainable.
As a result, the MacBook Neo has seen a price jump, with the base 256GB model now starting at RM2,999 instead of the original RM2,499. It isn’t just the Neo feeling the pinch, either; the price hike extends across several popular products.
For examples, the 13-inch MacBook Air M5 has climbed to RM5,499 from RM4,699, while the 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M5 Pro chip has seen a significant increase to RM10,299 from the previous RM8,999. Even the iPad Air M4 11-inch 128GB model has been bumped up to RM3,499 from its original RM2,799 price point.
If you have been eyeing any of these devices, you might want to scramble. You may still be able to find some stock floating around at the older retail prices if you check with authorised resellers like Machines, Switch, or iTworld, but you will need to be quick about it before that remaining inventory disappears.
This raises the question: will Apple raise prices for the upcoming iPhone 18 lineup and the iPhone Fold/Ultra? With the launch just a couple of months away, the answer is just around the corner.
