MediaTek Dimensity 9400 GPU Performance Trumps Apple’s A18 Pro

A leaked benchmark suggests that the Dimensity 9400 offers an impressive 86% performance boost over the A18 Pro chip featured in the iPhone 16 Pro series.

MediaTek will release its highly anticipated Dimensity 9400 chipset next month, featuring the cutting-edge Immortalis-G925 graphics unit by Arm. The Taiwanese tech giant claims this GPU will be “the highest performing, most efficient GPU to date.”

Recent benchmark tests seem to support this bold claim according to Digital Chat Station. The Immortalis-G925 achieved an impressive 134 fps in the GFX Aztec 1440p off-screen Vulkan benchmark.

This performance significantly outpaces the Apple A18 Pro, which scored 72 fps, and last year’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, which managed 95 fps.

The Dimensity 9400 reportedly delivers a staggering 86% performance improvement over Apple’s latest A18 Pro chip found in the iPhone 16 Pro series. It also edges out the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 by a respectable 41%.

Under the hood, the Dimensity 9400 utilises the latest Mali-G925-Immortalis MC12 GPU, paired with a powerful 3.63GHz Arm Cortex-X925 CPU. Compared to the previous generation G720, it boasts:

  • 37% increase in graphics application performance
  • 52% improvement in ray tracing for complex objects
  • 36% boost in AI and machine learning workload performance
  • 30% reduction in power consumption

The Dimensity 9400 chipset is anticipated to power both the Vivo X200 series and the Oppo Find X8 series.
