Many iPhone 16 Pro users are experiencing intermittent touchscreen responsiveness issues, where taps and swipes are ignored.
This affects interactions like scrolling, pressing buttons, and typing on the virtual keyboard. The problem seems to be due to a software bug in iOS’s accidental touch rejection algorithm, which is overly sensitive and mistakenly rejects intended touches, according to 9to5Mac.
Users often trigger this by unintentionally touching other parts of the screen, especially near the Camera Control on the right side, though all screen edges are affected.
The issue is exacerbated by the iPhone 16 Pro’s thinner bezels, making accidental contact more likely. It occurs more frequently when the phone is used without a case.
The problem is present in both iOS 18 and the iOS 18.1 beta, but it does not occur when the phone is on the lock screen, suggesting a software rather than hardware issue. Apple is expected to address this with a future software update.
