Google is reportedly developing a cloud-free automatic backup system for Android devices that links directly to Windows PCs and it free to use.
According to Android Authority, the feature will operate over Wi-Fi whenever your phone and computer are connected to the same local network. A hidden information page detailing this upcoming functionality was recently discovered within the latest version of the Google Play Services app.
To utilise this feature, users will need to open the Quick Share application on their Windows PC and activate the setting. Naturally, both the phone and the desktop app must be signed into the same Google account for the connection to establish successfully. Once configured, you will have the ability to select the specific photos and videos on your phone that you wish to back up.

Intriguingly, the screenshot includes a note at the bottom stating that Samsung phones are not supported. While this might seem unusual at first glance, it is likely related to the fact that Samsung already provides its users with comprehensive backup options through its own Smart Switch app. It is worth noting, however, that Smart Switch does not currently offer automatic backups in the manner of Google’s upcoming system.
Given that Samsung devices are the only ones explicitly excluded from the feature, it is highly likely that this feature will work with all other Android brands.
