RedMagic has officially launched its latest flagship gaming tablet, the Astra 2, for the global market.
Designed for serious mobile gamers, the device features a 9.06-inch LTPO OLED screen capable of reaching an impressive 185Hz refresh rate, with a resolution of 2400×1504. To ensure lightning-fast responsiveness, the display boasts an average touch sampling rate of 300Hz.

Underneath, the tablet is powered by the flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with memory configurations of either 12GB of RAM with 256GB of storage, or 16GB of RAM with 512GB of storage. Assisting the primary processor is RedMagic’s dedicated RedCore R4 gaming chip, which handles background tasks such as frame rate stabilisation and graphics upscaling to keep gameplay smooth.
To reduce thermal throttling, the tablet paired with AquaCore Cooling System 2.0, Liquid Metal 3.0, and a large vapor chamber for better heat dissipation.

Audio gets a significant boost from a pair of large dual stereo speakers and dual X-axis linear vibration motors that deliver what the brand describes as 4D haptic feedback.

As expected for a device focused purely on performance, the camera setup remains modest, featuring a 13MP sensor on the rear and a 9MP camera on the front for video calls. Powering the package is a 8,300mAh battery that supports 75W wired fast charging.

Notably, the Astra 2 features two separate USB-C ports: a high-speed 3.2 Gen 2 port for data and display output, alongside a standard USB 2.0 port positioned along the longer side of the frame. This secondary port allows players to comfortably charge the device while holding it in landscape orientation without cables getting in the way. Software duties are handled by RedMagic OS 11.5, built on top of Android 16.
Pricing and Availability
The RedMagic Astra 2 is available in Eclipse Black and Starfrost Silver colour options across both memory variants. International pricing starts at USD749 (~RM3,060) for the base model, though local availability and official pricing for the Malaysian market have yet to be confirmed by the brand.
