WhatsApp has just dropped a new batch of updates to make group chats a lot smoother, introducing handy tweaks to polls and a @all tag to ping everyone in one go.
The poll upgrades give you far more control over group decision-making. You can now tweak your poll questions up to 15 minutes after posting them, perfect for catching those accidental typos. You can also set a firm deadline to lock in voting when time runs out, or hide voter names entirely so everyone can share their real thoughts without any awkward peer pressure.
Then there is the new @all tag, which saves you from the tedious task of tagging group members one by one when you need to share urgent news. If you are in a larger group with more than 32 members, though, WhatsApp is keeping things sensible by reserving the @all tag for group admins only to avoid constant notification spam.
Finally, WhatsApp is making it much easier to branch off into side chats. You can now launch a brand-new group using members from an existing one with a single tap, which is ideal for organising side projects or planning surprise events away from the main thread.
