Huawei Malaysia is gearing up to drop a new tablet next week, and it is looking pretty slick. The MatePad Air is landing on 18 August 2026, bringing an ultra-thin 5.3mm chassis that weighs in at just 509 grams.

While we will have to wait until launch day to find out the price tag, early birds can grab freebies worth up to RM4,003, including a smart magnetic keyboard, M-Pencil Pro, wireless mouse, and a year of WPS AI software.

Up front, the tablet sports a 12-inch OLED PaperMatte display with a crisp 2800 x 1840 resolution and a silky smooth 120Hz refresh rate and 1,200 nits of peak brightness. Huawei has managed to push the screen-to-body ratio to 92%, packing in P3 wide colour gamut support and over a billion colours for rich visuals.

Audio should be equally impressive thanks to a six-speaker system paired with Huawei Sound tech, while a custom vapour chamber and high-conductivity graphite keep things cool under load.
Under the bonnet, the 2026 MatePad Air runs on a Kirin T93C chip paired with 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, and HarmonyOS 4.3. For snapping photos or taking video calls, you get a 50MP main camera on the rear and a 12MP snapper up front.

Powering it all is a massive 10,100mAh battery backed by 66W fast charging. It is a Wi-Fi-only device, though it comes loaded with Bluetooth 5.2, audio codec support like BLE, SBC, AAC, LDAC and L2HC, and a speedy USB-C 3.1 Gen 1 port. When it drops, you will be able to pick one up from Huawei Experience Stores, their official site, Shopee, Lazada, or TikTok Shop.
