After much rumour and speculation for years, Apple has finally joined the foldable party with the launch of the iPhone Duo.
It packs a 7.6-inch folding main screen alongside a 5.4-inch cover display, both featuring silky smooth ProMotion adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz and a 3,000-nit peak brightness. Rather than using Face ID, security is handled by a Touch ID sensor built into the side button, though you can still unlock it using your Apple Watch.

Durability looks solid thanks to Ceramic Shield on the back, Ceramic Shield 2 on the outer screen, and a full IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. To help hide the display fold, Apple used a custom nano-texture finish that creates a matte surface, backed by a titanium support plate and a scratch-resistant coating on the main folding panel.

Under the hood, it shares the brand-new A20 Pro silicon with the iPhone 18 Pro series. Built on a 2nm process, this chip brings a 6-core CPU, 7-core GPU, and a dual 16-core NPU setup. That equates to a 20% faster CPU and up to 40% faster graphics compared to the previous generation, alongside double the Neural Engine compute power and a 50% boost to unified memory bandwidth.
Connectivity gets an upgrade with Apple’s C2 modem and an N1 chip handling Bluetooth 6 and Wi-Fi 7. The foldable iPhone goes completely eSIM-only globally. Battery life is rated at up to 31 hours of video playback on the main screen, 44 hours on the cover display, or around 24 hours of general mixed usage across both. Quick top-ups yield 50% power in 20 minutes over a wire, or 30 minutes via MagSafe or Qi2 wireless chargers.
For photos, you get a 48MP main camera with an optical-quality 2x telephoto crop, a 48MP ultra-wide lens with macro support, and a 12MP Center Stage camera tucked into the outer screen. Apple has also included an under-display camera for selfies on the inner screen, though exact hardware specs for that sensor are still under wraps.

To make the most of the hardware, iOS 2027 adapts on the fly as you flex, flip, or rotate the device. Interface elements like the home screen dock and lock screen controls shift to the side to keep vertical space clear, and the unfolded home screen displays two full pages at once.

The status bar morphs into a compact circular hub in the corner, while the Dynamic Island slides to the side to handle alerts. Multitasking is straightforward, allowing you to run apps side by side in Split View and save your favourite app pairs for quick access.
