Netflix has dropped a surprise announcement by raising subscription prices across all tiers in Malaysia, including the cost of extra member slots.
If you are wondering how much more you will be paying each month, here is the new pricing breakdown. The Mobile plan moves up from RM18.90 to RM19.90 a month, while the Basic tier jumps from RM29.90 to RM33.90. Standard users will now see their bill increase from RM49.90 to RM55.90, and the top-tier Premium plan takes the biggest hit, rising from RM62.90 to RM69.90 a month.
According to Netflix, the price hike is necessary to help them upgrade their service and keep adding fresh TV shows and movies to their catalogue every single week, says Amanz.
On top of the main plans, extra member slots are getting pricier too. Standard plan subscribers can add one extra member for RM14.90 a month, up from the previous RM13.00. Premium subscribers can still add up to two extra members, but each slot will now set you back RM14.90 a month instead of RM13.00.
