Sony has just dropped two new wireless headsets for the PS5, dubbed the PlayStation Pulse and PlayStation Pulse Edge.
Replacing the older Pulse 3D and Pulse Elite models, both gear up with the studio-inspired planar magnetic driver tech Sony introduced back in 2024. This time around, they feature larger drivers designed to deliver extra bass impact without muddying the spatial precision or crisp sound separation.
Connectivity wise, both come with an USB-C adapter for PlayStation Link, which keeps audio lossless and ultra-low latency. You can hop between your PS5, PlayStation Portal, PC, and Mac, all while keeping a simultaneous Bluetooth link to your phone. Sony has also tweaked the design to fold flatter for easier travel and thrown in AI-powered noise rejection to clear up your mic audio during chaotic matches.
If you are looking for the top-tier experience, the Pulse Edge goes all out. It doubles the magnet count per driver compared to the standard model and packs in active noise cancellation, a detachable boom mic alongside a secondary hidden mic, dedicated game and chat balance controls, an analogue audio jack, and a proper carrying case. The base Pulse keeps things a bit simpler with a built-in mic and skips those high-end extras.
You will be able to pick up either set in Midnight Black or the classic White finish, though Sony is keeping quiet on pricing for now. The standard Pulse is set to hit shelves in select regions around the 2026 holiday season, while the feature-packed Pulse Edge will follow in early 2027. Expect pre-order details and price tags to drop over the coming months.
