iQOO has just released its new flagship phone in China, the iQOO 16, and it comes packed with Qualcomm’s newest top-tier chip and a crazy bright screen.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset, which pair with up to 16GB of super-fast LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and up to 1TB of UFS 4.1 storage.
Flip it over to the front and you are looking at a massive 6.85-inch Samsung-made M16 LTPO AMOLED display featuring a 1440×3168 resolution, and a butter-smooth 165Hz refresh rate. It gets absurdly bright too, hitting a mind-boggling 10,000 nits of localised peak brightness and a whopping 2,800 nits across the entire panel.

For photos and video, there is a triple camera array on the back. You get a 50MP main sensor with optical image stabilisation, a 50MP ultrawide lens with autofocus, and a 50MP periscope telephoto camera with optical image stabilisation that delivers 3x optical zoom, 6x lossless zoom, and up to 100x digital zoom. Over on the front, there is a fixed-focus 32MP shooter for taking selfies.

Powering the whole experience is a huge 8,400mAh battery that supports 100W wired and 40W wireless charging. The phone runs Android 17 with vivo’s OriginOS 7 layered on top, carries IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance ratings, and incorporates an ultrasonic in-display fingerprint scanner.
It is rolling out in three colours, roughly translated as Chasing Light, Racetrack, and Legend.

Pricing in China starts at CNY5,999 (~RM3,655) for the entry-level 12GB and 256GB variant, scaling up to CNY8,499 (~RM5,178) for the fully specced 16GB and 1TB model.
While a global launch date has not been officially confirmed yet, it is almost certainly going to happen given the worldwide releases of previous generations.
