The Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max first landed in China back in September, along with a promise that a global rollout was on the cards later in the year.
That wait is finally over, as Xiaomi has confirmed both phones are heading to international markets this month, which almost certainly includes Malaysia.
There is a bit of a catch when it comes to battery life, though. European listings indicate that the global versions might come with scaled-down battery sizes compared to their Chinese twins. The Xiaomi 18 Pro appears to be dropping from a 7,000mAh battery down to 6,000mAh, while the 18 Pro Max drops from 8,500mAh to a 7,050mAh unit.
It remains to be seen whether Malaysia will get these smaller batteries or if Xiaomi will take a leaf out of Oppo’s book by keeping the original capacities intact, just as Oppo did with the Find X10 series.
Everything else seems to be similar to the Chinese version. The 18 Pro packs the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6, while the 18 Pro Max steps up to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, with both running on HyperOS 4.
On the display front, you are looking at sharp 2K LTPO OLED screens, measuring 6.4 inches on the Pro and a massive 6.9 inches on the Pro Max. Camera setups are equally stacked on both models, featuring a 200MP main sensor, a 200MP periscope telephoto lens, a 50MP ultrawide camera, and a crisp 50MP front shooter for selfies.
