Samsung just announced an upgraded Z Fold 6 called “Z Fold Special Edition” (Z Fold SE) with a larger display, a slimmer body, and a 200MP main camera.
The Z Fold SE boasts a larger 6.5-inch LTPO AMOLED 2X cover screen, an increase from the 6.3-inch panel on the Z Fold 6, complete with an updated 21:9 aspect ratio.
The main display has expanded to 8 inches and now features a 10:9 aspect ratio. Both screens offer a 120Hz refresh rate, and the external one is topped with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for protection.
The Z Fold SE presents a much slimmer profile – 4.9 mm when unfolded and 10.6 mm when folded. It’s lighter too, at 236 grams, which is 3g less than the Z Fold 6. To achieve this slimness, the new Z Fold SE doesn’t support the S Pen.
The camera system has received a significant upgrade as well – a 200MP main camera with OIS, a substantial upgrade over the Z Fold 6’s 50MP primary camera.
The 12MP ultrawide lens now features autofocus, a considerable advantage. The 10MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom remains, along with the dual selfie cameras – a 10MP on the cover display and a 4MP under-display unit on the main screen.
The Z Fold SE comes with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy, available in a single configuration of 16GB RAM and 512GB storage. It also boasts improved connectivity with Wi-Fi 7, a feature not yet available on the Z Fold6.
On the software front, it runs One UI 6.1.1 based on Android 14 with Galaxy AI, and Samsung promises 7 years of software support.
The battery capacity remains unchanged from the Z Fold 6, with a 4,400mAh cell supporting 25W wired and 15W wireless charging.
Samsung offers the Z Fold SE in an exclusive Black Shadow colour. In South Korea, it’s priced at KRW2,789,600 (~RM8,747).
Currently, the device is exclusive to South Korea, with rumours hinting at its potential availability in China.
