Apple is scheduled to launch its M4 MacBook Pro on 1 November; however, in an unexpected twist, someone has already obtained one.
A YouTube unboxing video of the 14-inch M4 MacBook Pro has surfaced, disclosing significant details about the laptop.
The video, posted by the Russian channel Wylsacom, did not disclose how they acquired the device prior to its official release.
Apple has ceased the official sale of its products in Russia due to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, so someone in the country must have imported the MacBook Pro from another country.
The unboxing video confirms that the new MacBook Pro operates on an M4 chip. The increase in CPU cores is anticipated to deliver a 25% performance enhancement compared to the M3 chip, and the benchmark results shared by Wylsacom appear to corroborate this claim.
In the Geekbench 6 benchmark, the new MacBook Pro with the M4 chip achieved 3864 points in the single-core test and 15288 points in the multi-core test. In contrast, the previous year’s 16-inch MacBook Pro registered 2974 points in single-core and 20881 points in multi-core tests.
Moreover, the M4 MacBook Pro is shown featuring three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an improvement over the two Thunderbolt 3 ports found on the current models.
The leak also suggests the debut of a “Space Black” colour variant for the base 14-inch MacBook Pro model, which was previously exclusive to the more expensive M3 Pro or M3 Max chip models.
This leak may appear authentic, but there’s an odd detail concerning the packaging. It’s peculiar that the wallpaper on the packaging is the same as the one from last year’s M3 MacBook Pro.
The likelihood of Apple reusing the same wallpaper for a new MacBook Pro is slim, which could indicate that this M4 MacBook Pro might be fake.
