At CES 2025, AMD announced its latest additions to the Radeon lineup: the Radeon RX 9070 and RX 9060 series desktop GPUs, designed for the performance segment, powered by the cutting-edge RDNA 4 graphics architecture,
AMD’s new product stack positions the Radeon RX 9070 series and RX 9060 series as strong competitors against both the current Radeon RX 7000 series and NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 4000 and upcoming RTX 5000 series.

According to AMD, the RX 9070 XT will deliver performance comparable to the Radeon RX 7900 XT in rasterised workloads, with the RX 9070 outperforming the RX 7800 XT. These GPUs will be equipped with up to 16 GB of video memory. Meanwhile, the RX 9060 XT will outpace the RX 7700 XT, and the RX 9060 will surpass the RX 7600 XT.
RDNA 4 Innovations
The RDNA 4 architecture brings significant advancements in SIMD performance, alongside 2nd-generation AI accelerators that promise generational leaps in efficiency and capability.

AMD also teased a locally accelerated generative AI application, AMD Adrenalin AI, which will handle tasks like image generation, document summarisation, linguistic rewriting, and chatbot functionality for AMD-related queries.
Media acceleration and display I/O are expected to receive major upgrades in this generation, further enhancing the capabilities of AMD’s GPUs.
FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4)
Alongside the new GPUs, AMD announced FidelityFX Super Resolution 4 (FSR 4), optimised for RDNA 4. FSR 4 introduces a machine learning-based upscaling feature combined with frame generation and an updated Anti-Lag 2 technology. This feature set aims to improve gaming experiences with smoother visuals and reduced latency.
Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been confirmed as one of the first titles to leverage FSR 4, hinting at its integration into upcoming AAA games.

AMD has secured strong support from its add-in board partners (AIBs), with companies like Acer, ASRock, ASUS, GIGABYTE, Sapphire, PowerColor, XFX, Vastarmor, and Yeston preparing Radeon RX 9070 series cards.

AMD plans to release the RX 9070 series GPUs within the first quarter of 2025, with RX 9060 series coming later.
