Apple is gearing up to reveal its biggest operating system updates of the year at WWDC on 9 June. The updates will include iOS 26 for the iPhone, iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, and macOS 26.
Alongside these, Apple is also rumoured to be rolling out several new features for AirPods 4 and the AirPods Pro 2.
One of the standout features is a new head gesture that lets users increase the music volume after it’s been automatically lowered by the “Conversation Awareness” feature. This happens when the AirPods detect you’re talking to someone.
Another handy addition is automatic playback pausing when the AirPods sense you’ve fallen asleep—though this might only work if you’re also wearing an Apple Watch with sleep tracking enabled.
There’s also talk of a new way to trigger the iPhone camera by pressing the stem button on the AirPods Pro while the camera app is open. It’s not entirely clear if this will work when the AirPods are in your hand or just when they’re in your ears.
Additionally, Apple is reportedly working on a Studio mode to enhance microphone quality. On the iPadOS 26 side, connecting multiple AirPods to the same iPad could become much easier, which would be especially useful in classroom settings.
