After announcing the refreshed 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip yesterday, Apple has finally rolled out the real star of the show: a brand-new MacBook Pro featuring an OLED screen and touch control, marking a first for the Mac lineup.
The highlight here is definitely the screen, which Apple has dubbed PROLED XDR. It borrows the same Tandem OLED tech we first saw on the iPad Pro, stacking two OLED panels together to seriously crank up the brightness.
These new displays have a resolution of 3024 x 1986 (14-inch) and 3472 x 2266 (16-inch) and they can push up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness and maintain 1,000 nits of sustained brightness. They also support variable refresh rates from 10Hz to 120Hz alongside full P3 and Adobe RGB colour gamut coverage.

The display overhaul also means the notch has finally been swapped out for the Dynamic Island. Sadly, Face ID hasn’t made the jump to the Mac just yet, meaning Touch ID is still your go-to for secure logins and authentication.
Alongside the panel upgrade, Apple has introduced touchscreen support to the Mac for the very first time. Rather than turning macOS into a full tablet OS, Apple is pitching touch as just another handy way to interact with content inside apps. Interestingly though, there is no mention of Apple Pencil support, so Apple Pencil lovers will have to sit this one out.

The new MacBook Pros are a fraction smaller than the non-OLED MacBook Pros by a few millimetres, but noticeably lighter by up to 300 grams depending on the size you pick. The internal cooling has also been completely redesigned, routing warm air safely away from the display.

Perhaps the detail longtime fans will love most, however, is the return of the glowing Apple logo on the lid, just like the classic MacBooks of the past.
Audio gets a nice bump too. While they keep the familiar six-speaker layout, Apple has packed in new woofers for 50% deeper bass alongside upgraded tweeters. The housing has even been redesigned so your music still sounds great even when the lid is closed.
Under the chassis, everything else stays largely familiar. These models run on the same M5 Pro and M5 Max chips, offer the same memory and storage tiers, carry identical ports, and deliver the same battery life as the standard range.
