Apple Has Updated The iMac With M6 Chip: Price Starts At RM6,499 In Malaysia

Well, it's the same iMac as the previous generation, but with a new chip. That's all.

Alongside the 14-inch MacBook Pro, Apple has also given the iMac a refresh with the new M6 chip.

You can grab the latest 24-inch all-in-one with either a 10-core or 12-core version of the M6 processor. The top-spec model packs a 12-core CPU using a 2+4+6 core setup, paired with a 12-core GPU featuring Neural Accelerators and ray tracing support. The base model steps down slightly to a 10-core CPU with a 2+3+5 layout and a 10-core GPU, though both variants share the same dual 16-core Neural Engine.

Under the hood, memory bandwidth gets a bump up to 170 GB/s, while SSD speeds have doubled. Both versions ship with 16GB of unified memory as standard. You can configure the entry-level machine up to 24GB, while the top-tier option offers 24GB or 32GB upgrades. Storage starts at 256GB across the range, with 512GB and 1TB options for both, plus an extra 2TB tier exclusively for the higher-end model.

Networking gets a modern upgrade thanks to Apple’s N1 wireless chip, bringing Bluetooth 6.0, Thread, and Wi-Fi 7 to the table. However, the display remains unchanged, sticking with the familiar 60Hz, 500-nit, 4.5K IPS panel seen on previous generations.

Port selection matches the processor choice, with the 10-core model offering two Thunderbolt 4 ports and the 12-core version upgrading to four.
