Apple Launches New Studio Display & 120Hz Studio Display XDR: Prices Start From RM6,499

The Studio Display uses a regular IPS LCD screen, while the XDR model gets a Mini LED display capable of 2,000 nits peak brightness.

Apple has just unveiled two new monitors that are perfect partners for the latest M5 Pro and Max MacBook Pros: the Studio Display and the Studio Display XDR.

The updated Studio Display gets a few nice internal tweaks, including a 12MP webcam, a better three-microphone array, and a six-speaker system with spatial audio. It also finally brings Thunderbolt 5 to the table. Most of the other details remain the same as the original model, so you are still getting that recognisable 27-inch 5K (5120 x 2880) IPS panel at 60Hz refresh rate and 600 nits brightness for the same price point.

The real heavy hitter is the Studio Display XDR, which officially replaces the old Pro Display XDR. This model features a 27-inch 5K panel that now supports a 120Hz refresh rate, making everything look much smoother.

Thanks to a Mini LED backlighting system with 2,304 local dimming zones, it can reach 2,000 nits of peak HDR brightness and 1,000 nits in SDR. It also supports a broader range of professional colour gamut modes like Adobe RGB and includes a tilt and height-adjustable stand in the box, whereas the standard model only tilts.
