We have known for a bit that Apple is tinkering with a foldable iPhone to take on the Galaxy Z Fold, but the latest rumour suggests they might be thinking smaller too. It looks like a flip-style iPhone, much like the Galaxy Z Flip, could be on the cards.

According to Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, the team in Cupertino is already exploring a square, clamshell-like design. This new form factor is reportedly being toyed with inside Apple’s labs, though details are still pretty thin on the ground.
Gurman did not give us a release date or any solid specs, and he was quick to point out that there is no guarantee this thing will ever actually hit the shelves.
It seems Apple wants to see how people react to their larger, book-style foldable before they decide whether or not to give the flip phone a proper go.
