Alongside the HomeView, Apple dropped a refreshed version of the HomePod mini.
The new HomePod mini 2 packs Apple’s S10 chip, powering its latest Siri AI capabilities. To get those upgraded smarts working, you will need to pair the speaker with an Apple Intelligence-compatible iPhone or iPad.
Siri AI can recognise up to six distinct voices in a household to serve up personalised messages. You will have to hold tight for that one though, as the voice-matching tech will not be ready on day one and is slated for a future software update.
Another addition is Sound Glow, which turns the top display into a dynamic canvas that lights up and animates alongside your music. It pulls colours directly from the active song’s album artwork to create a custom visual show while you listen.
For home theatre setups, you can now link up to four HomePod mini units together to build a 4-speaker surround system with the latest Apple TV 4K. Naturally, it still handles standard smart home hub duties to control your connected devices.
Pricing and Availability
In Malaysia, the HomePod mini 2 comes in at RM 649. Local buyers, along with customers across more than 23 other regions, can place pre-orders starting 15 October at 9:00am via the official store website or Apple Store app. It comes in pink, green, blue, white, and midnight, hitting store shelves on Friday, 30 October.
