CelcomDigi has been awarded the title of Malaysia’s Best Mobile Coverage network by Ookla, highlighting the mobile network operator’s exceptional performance over the past year.
This accolade is based on Ookla’s Speedtest report for Malaysia in the first and second quarters of 2024 (Q1-Q2 2024), which evaluates the extent of a telco’s network coverage and service quality. CelcomDigi emerged at the top of the Best Mobile Coverage category with a Coverage Score of 30.73, according to CelcomDigi.
The report noted that CelcomDigi’s 4G network covers 97% of populated areas nationwide, with nearly 249 million scans conducted on over 303,000 devices, and a verified coverage area of 106,366 km².
Maxis holds second place with a Coverage Score of 27.18% and a verified coverage area of 94,241 km². Unifi Mobile has a Coverage Score of 18.03% and a verified coverage area of 63,156 km².
Malaysia encompasses a total land area of 330,803 km², spanning both Peninsular Malaysia and East Malaysia, which includes areas that are uninhabited.
CelcomDigi’s CEO, Datuk Idham Nawawi, highlighted the company’s commitment to customer excellence and continuous improvement in delivering a top-tier network experience.
He emphasised their efforts to build Malaysia’s leading digital network, offering seamless 4G and 5G services.
CelcomDigi also announced plans to modernise 75% of its network by the end of 2024, making it the largest and most advanced digital network in the country.
This extensive 18,000-site 5G-ready network is set to facilitate the rapid deployment of 5G and 5G-Advanced technology across its wide footprint, positioning it as one of the largest advanced 5G networks in the region.
