Meta is rolling out Facebook Verified, a free badge designed to confirm that a real human being is operating an account.
To secure the badge, users must complete a selfie-based verification. This involves recording a short video selfie, which Meta’s system checks against existing profile pictures to verify a match and they say this authentication process takes just a few minutes to complete.
Once verified, the badge will display across Facebook Marketplace, Dating, Groups, and main user profiles. Meta plans to expand its visibility to Feed posts in a subsequent update. The platform explicitly notes that the badge does not constitute an endorsement of the user or a guarantee of their trustworthiness; it merely confirms that the account belongs to a verified individual rather than a bot or automated script.

Eligibility is restricted to users who are at least 18 years old and maintaining good standing with platform guidelines. Specifically, accounts must comply with Community Standards regarding fraud, scams, and deceptive practices, with zero evidence of inauthentic behaviour.
The feature is currently unavailable for business pages and accounts utilising ProMode. Meta says the deployment is following a phased release model, launching first in select regional markets before a broader global rollout.
