Huawei MatePad Mini & Watch GT Runner 2 Are Coming To Malaysia This Month

The compact tablet and the running-focused smartwatch will be launching here on 21 April 2026.

Huawei is freshening up its lineup in Malaysia with two pretty interesting additions: the MatePad Mini and the Watch GT Runner 2. If you have been waiting for a compact tablet that actually packs a punch or a wearable that can keep up with a marathon, you might want to keep your eyes on these.

Huawei MatePad Mini

Let’s dive into the MatePad Mini first. It is a small but mighty 8.8-inch tablet that has finally made its way over from China. The display is a real standout, featuring a Flexible PaperMatte OLED panel that hits a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, with a resolution of 2560 × 1600. The “flexible” part just refers to the substrate tech inside the display, so it won’t actually fold in your hands, but it does reach a massive 1,800 nits of brightness.

It is also incredibly sleek, wrapped in a magnesium alloy frame that is only 5.2mm thin. At just 260g, it is significantly lighter and thinner than the iPad mini, making it a very tempting option for those who value portability.

Under the bonnet, it is running the Kirin 9010B chip paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, all powered by HarmonyOS 4.3. The 6,400mAh battery should keep you going for a while, and when you do run low, the 66W SuperCharge can top up the battery quickly.

Huawei also included a smart power mode to help the battery stay healthy for at least three years. For the creatives, it supports the M-Pencil Pro with over 10,000 levels of pressure sensitivity and tactile feedback, making it a proper little digital sketchbook. Even the cameras are decent for a tablet, with a 50MP main sensor, a 8MP ultrawide on the back and a 32MP selfie snapper on the front.

Huawei Watch GT Runner 2

Then we have the Watch GT Runner 2 for anyone serious about their jogging or distance running. It sports a bright 1.32-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 466 x 466. It is built tough with a Titanium alloy body and a second-gen Kunlun glass and comes in three colours: Dusk Blue, Dawn Orange, and Midnight Black. It is also quite light at 34.5 grams, which is exactly what you want when you are hitting the pavement.

What makes this watch special is the tech under the glass. Huawei has tucked in a 3D floating antenna and a clever AI-XDR algorithm to make sure your satellite tracking is spot on, even when you are running through built-up or obstructed areas.

There is a dedicated Marathon Mode co-developed with the legendary Eliud Kipchoge, featuring training plans and performance predictors. Beyond running, it is a health powerhouse with ECG, sleep management, and even emotional wellbeing tracking. There is even a golf mode with over 17,000 courses if you prefer a slightly slower pace.

Both of these gadgets are landing in Malaysia on 21 April 2026. While we do not have the official pricing just yet, we will not have to wait long to see how they stack up against the competition when they finally hit the shelves.
