Huawei Pura 90s Pro And Pro Max Debut In Malaysia With A Starting Price Of RM3,699

Both phones are powered by Kirin 9030S chip and they come with 5G support, unlike the previous generations.

Huawei Malaysia has officially expanded its premium smartphone portfolio with the debut of the Pura 90s Series, introducing the Pura 90s Pro and the top-tier Pura 90s Pro Max.

The Pura 90s Pro has a 6.6-inch flat LTPO panel, outputting a 1256×2760 resolution and adapting dynamically from a 1Hz to 120Hz refresh rate. The Pro Max stretches things further with a 6.9-inch flat LTPO display pushing 1308x 2880 resolution at the same adaptive refresh rate.

Huawei has prioritised durability here, outfitting the Pro with second-generation Kunlun Glass and the Pro Max with the original iteration. Both panels incorporate a specialised optical design that cuts reflections by up to 70%, alongside a diamond-like carbon coating and silicon nitride ceramic material that reportedly boost scratch resistance by 16 times and drop protection by 25 times.

Both flagship entries are powered by the Kirin 9030S chipset, paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 512GB of onboard storage. The underlying software experience is driven by EMUI 16, which is built upon the Android Open Source Project 16 base rather than standard Android 16.

A massive victory for the brand’s global audience is the inclusion of native 5G support, addressing a long-standing limitation of recent generations. Connectivity is further modernised with eSIM compatibility, dual-band Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0 with high-fidelity LDAC and L2HC codecs, and NearLink E2.0, which acts as Huawei’s proprietary alternative to Bluetooth.

Shifting focus to the camera modules, the Pura 90s Pro Max steals the headlines by introducing the mobile industry’s first 200MP RYYB telephoto sensor. This massive 1/1.28-inch sensor rests behind an f/2.6 lens offering 4x optical zoom, macro capabilities, and impressive CIPA 7.0-rated image stabilisation. The Pro Max’s primary camera relies on a 50MP 1/1.28-inch LOFIC sensor that yields an incredibly wide dynamic range, paired with a ten-step adjustable physical aperture ranging from f/1.4 to f/4.0. Rounding out the trio is a 40MP ultra-wide shooter featuring an RYYB sensor and an f/2.2 lens.

The standard Pura 90s Pro scales the photography hardware down slightly but remains formidable. Its 4x telephoto camera utilises a 50MP sensor with an OIS-enabled f/2.1 lens and a 5cm close-focus macro mode. While its primary camera shares the same 50MP 1/1.28-inch RYYB footprint as its larger sibling, it passes on the advanced LOFIC technology. The ultra-wide option is also scaled back to a more conventional 12.5MP RYYB unit with an f/2.2 aperture.

Both models have 6,000mAh batteries, though their charging architectures differ. The Pro Max supports rapid 100W wired and 80W wireless charging, whereas the Pro caps out at 66W wired and 50W wireless speeds.

Physically, both devices are built to withstand the elements, carrying an IP68 rating for submersion up to two metres alongside an IP69 certification against high-pressure water jets. Despite its larger screen, the Pro Max manages to be slightly slimmer at 8.1mm while weighing 230g, compared to the Pro which measures 8.2mm in thickness and weighs 213g.

Pre-orders are currently live in Malaysia, with the Pura 90s Pro starting at RM3,699 for the 256GB variant and rising to RM3,999 for the 512GB configuration, while the premium Pura 90s Pro Max is priced at RM4,899 for the 512GB model.
