Huawei Pura X Takes The Crown For The Widest Flip Phone Design On The Market

When unfolded, it becomes like a mini tablet with a 6.3-inch screen with a 16:10 aspect ratio.

Huawei just dropped a new flip smartphone in China, and it’s not your typical flip phone. The Huawei Pura X stands out with its unique design—instead of the usual tall and slim shape, it’s the widest flip phone on the market.

When unfolded, it measures 143.2 mm in height and 91.7 mm in width, making it shorter but way wider than most smartphones we’ve seen lately. Folded up, it’s 91.7 mm by 74.3 mm.

The phone features a 6.3-inch main display with a 16:10 aspect ratio (2,120 × 1,320 pixels), a smooth 1-120Hz LTPO refresh rate, a 300Hz touch sampling rate, and 1440Hz PWM frequency. On the outside, there’s a 3.5-inch LTPO cover display (980 × 980 pixels) alongside a triple-camera setup.

Speaking of cameras, the Pura X packs a 50MP main sensor with OIS, a 40MP ultrawide lens, and an 8MP telephoto lens with 3.5x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom. For selfies, there’s a 10MP camera.

Powering the device is a 4,720mAh battery with support for 66W wired and 40W wireless charging. Huawei also added some cooling tech, including a graphite plate with thermal conductivity to keep things cool.

As for the chipset, Huawei is keeping it under wraps, as usual. They’re not commenting on the specifics, so we’ll have to wait and see.

The Pura X comes in two memory/storage options: 12GB RAM with 256GB or 512GB storage. If you go for the Pura X Collection Edition, you’ll get 16GB RAM and a choice of 512GB or 1TB storage.

Other features include IPX8 water and dust resistance, Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.2, NFC, and a USB 3.1 Type-C port. The Collection Edition also adds satellite communication for extra connectivity.

The phone is available in three standard colours—Black, White, and Silver—plus two Collector’s Edition options: Pattern Green and Pattern Red.

Pricing starts at CNY7,499 (~RM4,571) for the base 12/256GB model and goes up to CNY9,999 (~RM6,095) for the top-tier 16GB/1TB version.

Right now, there’s no word on whether this phone will make its way to international markets, but we’re pretty sure it’ll land in Malaysia at some point.
