iPhone 17 Pro Rumours: Big Camera Upgrades Coming

One of the upgrades might prove to be a bane rather than a boon.

Apple’s next-gen iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max are shaping up to bring some exciting upgrades to the camera system.

According to MacRumors, the Pro models will feature an improved telephoto lens capable of up to 8× optical zoom, a big jump from the 5× zoom on the iPhone 16 Pro series. What’s even cooler is that the lens will apparently be able to move, enabling continuous optical zoom across different focal lengths.

There’s also talk of a brand-new pro camera app from Apple, designed for both photos and videos. It’s not clear yet whether this will be exclusive to the iPhone 17 Pro models or if it’ll be a major revamp of the existing Final Cut Camera app.

Another interesting addition is a second Camera Control button, this time on the top edge of the device. It’ll give users quick access to camera settings, complementing the bottom-edge button already confirmed for the iPhone 16 lineup. Not sure more buttons are the way to go here, Apple.

Rounding out the upgrades, the iPhone 17 Pro models are expected to pack triple 48MP rear cameras and a 24MP front-facing shooter.
